"HB" Urrutia

A native of Newport News, Virginia, HB Urrutia is returning for his third year with WYCC Sailing. He holds a BA from the University of
Tennessee, where he also began his sailing career. Advancing quickly, he took on the position of equipment manager and then
served two years as Vice Commodore for UT Sailing. While at Tennessee, he remained active in community involvement, philanthropy,
and volunteered as a coach for local Knoxville high school sailing programs.
Cole Cole Brundage

Cole just graduated from Hampton Roads Academy where he was a member of the Latin Club, Republican Club, the National Art Honor
 Society, and the Students Against Destructive Decisions club.  He will attend Roanoke College in the fall where he plans to study Business.
 Cole is certified in CPR and he has also completed a boating safety course and holds a Virginia Boating License.   He was a participant
in the Yacht Club’s Junior Sailing program for 3 years and participated in HRA’s Varsity Sailing team for 2 years. He was also an instructor
for the Yacht club Junior Sailing program last year.  
Claire Hunnicutt

 

Claire Hunnicutt

Claire is 16 years old and currently a rising senior at Kecoughtan High School. She began sailing at 8 years old at Hampton Yacht Club and served as an instructor there for two years before transferring to the Warwick Yacht Club. She has particiapted in many sailing regattas in Opti's, 420's, and Laser's, including the Governor's Cup, the Hampton Yacht Club Annual Regatta, and the Opti Nationals at Norfolk Yacht and Country Club. This is her second summer as a Junior Sailing Instructor at WYCC. Claire is involved in many clubs and sports at Kecoughtan, including the National Honor Society, Keyettes, Spanish Club, field hockey, and soccer. Claire has her CPR/AED and First Aid certifications, and also holds a Virginia Boating License.

Genis Robertson Genis Robertson

Genis was born and raised in Newport News, Virginia living near the WYCC. She has been sailing with us for the past 7 years and was a 
racing skipper this past year. Genis is 14 and this is her first year as an intern for us. She is currently a freshmen at Menchville High School
and is a member of the National Junior Honor Society. She has been involved with the Menchville JV field hockey team for the past 2 years
and was captain of the team this past year. She played on the JV soccer team too. Genis holds a Virginia boating license,and will soon be
certified in CPR. Genis loves sailing and working with kids and plans on remaining with our program throughout her high school years.
Amy Benefield Amy Benefield


Amy Benefield is a rising senior from Knoxville, TN. Sailing has always been a lifelong passion for her. She attended Concord Yacht Club's
sail camp in Knoxville for seven years and has been an instructor there for the past two. Upon entering high school, she joined Farragut High
School's sailing team and has participated in regattas throughout the southeast. Along with sailing, she enjoys skiing and is a ski patroller
in the Smokey Mountains. Amy is a US Sailing Level 1 instructor and also has a nationally recognized Outdoor Emergency Care certification.
